Our Carpet cleaning process

Steam Cleaning

Also known as Hot Water Extraction

Our Steam Cleaning Process is better known as “Hot Water Extraction” in the Carpet Cleaning world. This is a thorough cleaning process that utilizes hot water under high pressure to penetrate deep into the fibers of a surface.

In this method, our specialized machine injects hot water mixed with a cleaning solution into the material being cleaned. The hot water effectively loosens dirt, stains, and other contaminants trapped within the fibers.

Hot water extraction is often preferred for its ability to reach deep into surfaces, providing a comprehensive clean without the need for harsh chemicals. We use it in both residential and commercial settings to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, particularly for carpets, rugs, and upholstery.

Our Hot Water Extraction Method

  1. Pre-Inspection

We start with inspecting the carpet, noting any heavily soiled areas, stains, or specific concerns. This inspection helps determine the appropriate cleaning solutions and techniques we’ll use.

2. Pre-vacuuming

The carpet is thoroughly vacuumed to remove any dry particulates, such as, loose dirt, dust, and debris. These dry particulates can be very damaging to your carpet and lead to premature wear and irreversible damage, often seen in high traffic areas. This extra step not only removes debris, but ensures that the cleaning solution can penetrate deeply into the carpet fibers.

3. Pre-treatment

Stubborn stains and heavily soiled areas are pre-treated with specialized cleaning solutions. These solutions help break down dirt, grease, and stains, making them easier to remove during the extraction process.  Additional spot treatments may be applied to target specific stains or spots that require extra attention.

4. Agitation

Another extra step we take here at 101 Carpet Cleaning is agitation. This crucial step involves physically working the carpet fibers to dislodge dirt, stains, and debris, making them easier to remove during cleaning. Our specialized carpet cleaning machine utilizes Counter Rotating Brushes to agitate and lift the carpet pile, allowing our pre-treatment to fully penetrate and loosen any soils and debris.

5. Hot water extraction

Our professional-grade hot water extraction machine is used to apply a mixture of hot water and a rinse solution to the carpet. The machine's powerful pump sprays the solution deep into the carpet fibers, agitating them to loosen dirt and stains. Immediately after the cleaning solution is applied, the machine's strong vacuum suction extracts the dirty water, along with the loosened dirt, stains, and cleaning solution residue. This step effectively removes contaminants from the carpet, leaving it clean and refreshed.

7. post-grooming

The carpet fibers are groomed using specialized tools to restore their appearance and alignment. This step also helps in the drying process by promoting airflow. This paired with adequate ventilation is essential to expedite the drying process and prevent mold or mildew growth.

6. Rinse

We rinse our carpets to ensure a sanitized, safe and soft carpet. If no rinse is applied to carpets, the cleaning agents remain within the fibers, leaving behind a residue. This residue commonly results in carpets feeling “hard” or “crunchy.” This is another step we take in our process that ensures our clients satisfaction.

8. final inspection

Once the carpet is dry, a final inspection is conducted to ensure that the cleaning process has been successful and that the carpet meets the desired cleanliness standards.
